Population-Related
Products • Processes • Technologies
The Daedalus Project was organized
to concentrate upon population-related projects, particularly those involving critical,
non-discretionary products, processes, and technologies that form markets with direct
relationships to population size and growth |
| The world’s population currently
exceeds six and one-half billion people. Within
approximately 35 years, that population could exceed 10 billion. See more under

| Daedalus'
objectives include the innovative application of appropriate technologies to promote
labor-intensive projects in developing countries. Those projects will concentrate
upon satisfying the requirements for food, water, shelter, medical care, and family
planning. Among those projects are creative use of recycled materials
to provide for the have-nots from the excesses of the haves. |

Rather than attempting to provide solutions to problems simply by introducing products
for sale, Daedalus intends to promote efforts that will also create the means
of production to achieve project objectives.
Three components are of primary importance to the projects undertaken by Daedalus.
They must have a humanitarian basis, be environmentally sound, and promote sustainable
economic growth.
Two of Daedalus' projects are highlighted on this site, the World
Shelter Project and Water Systems for Developing Areas.
Daedalus' shelter project received an Innovation
Award from Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology.
The Daedalus Foundation was formed as a non-profit organization to
provide relief to the victims of population-induced problems through the application
of appropriate technology and the creation of sustainable economic development.
